Claudio Parentela's artwork

ARTWORK BY CLAUDIO PARENTELA
Claudio Parentela is a freelance illustrator, painter, photographer, mail artist, cartoonist, and collagist. "
The inspiration behind my artworks are my dreams and especially my nightmares...I use mostly black indian ink on paper, because the black ink is perfect to draw my nightmares...I love heavy contrasts, the strong feelings, and the strong emotions... in these times my nightmares are many, and I need larger spaces and larger sheets of paper to express and to draw my nightmares... Toni Salter

CITRUS - THE ETHNIC AUSTRALIAN ICON BY THE VEGGIE LADY
This month, Toni tells us how to maintain your citrus tree. "With
a bit of work now you’ll have the best tasting oranges and lemons in the neighbourhood. Guaranteed! I remember transforming a 14 year old, fully neglected navel orange tree at the bottom of a garden in South Hurstville into the juiciest, sweetest orange I’ve ever tasted..." Fiona Prior

TRACEY MOFFATT'S ADVENTURE SERIES EXHIBITION
"Adventure Series is a little bit comic strip, a little bit 70's TV, a tad tourist brochure - with a touch of plane-exploding terrorism and shades of James Bond 007. Such are the mind-embedded signifiers that Tracey mixes up for us, to deliver (in Adventure Series) stimulating prompts and teases that play in our collective 1st world subconscious..." Review by Fiona Prior. Full review at: http://www.chaosgeneration.com/art_reviews/tracey_moffatt.htm

King Arthur

KING ARTHUR
"First time I cried was when Arturo was a little boy and his village is being raided and his mother is screaming and he sees the sword in the stone and he grasps its handle … not for personal glory or to get the girl but to save his mother’s life.." Review by Fiona Prior. Full review at: http://www.chaosgeneration.com/film_reviews/king_arthur.htm.

Celestial Silks

CELESTIAL SILKS EXHIBITION
The Celestial Silks - Chinese Religious and Court Textiles exhibition is on display at the Art Gallery of NSW until 24 Oct, 2004.
"The iconography and the standard of embroidery were far above anything that was produced in the Western world. In this historic era precious textiles plus labour-intensive and intricate human endeavour was valued more highly than precious metal."
