Almost Christmas

Can't believe that it's almost Christmas. The last couple of months have literally flown by. A number of the engo friends happen to be in Sydney at this time so it's been cool catching up with everyone. They're all having great adventures, jetsetting around the world, having fun.

Need to get some last minute Christmas shopping done and buy some food for Christmas dinner at my place.

Have a list of chores to do as well - house cleaning, maintenance stuff, as well as just getting all my admin in order.

Then there's the planning of projects I want to take on next year, and just getting on with design and production of these projects. Holidays are kind of a good slot for experimentation stuff as in theory, that's when you have some time to do it. It's also the time when you just want to chill out, relax with some good books, magazines, watch some movies, check out some exhibitions, catch up with friends, drink and eat and be merry. Maybe I can try and fit all of that in.

Then there's the question of whether I try and take a short break somewhere or just leave it till after the rush, since my work mode currently is a bit more flexible these days.

Went on a Christmas 'surprise' cruise for my work last week. It wasn't really a surprise because literally everyone knew some detail of where we were going. It turned out to be a very nice sunny day and everyone seemed to have a great time. I did anyway. The boat just sailed around the harbour and up to Watson's Bay and back. I took some photos of the Opera House from the boat and a few other shots of workmates etc. Had a buffet lunch of salads and cold meats. Pretty nice way to spend an afternoon. White was the theme of the day so and it was funny as we probably looked like something out of a 'Country Road' catalogue, lounging on the boat and all, or maybe Miami Vice. Not sure.

Music stuff

Have often heard this song titled 'Wherever you will go' but never knew who sang it. Saw the clip on Video Hits Sat morning and discovered that it is 'The Calling' who sing/play this song. Checked out their website http://www.thecallingband.com and was surprised to find that out that the lead singer Alex is only 20 years old. His voice sounds so much older. You can download some of their clips from the website. Got their CD today also. So I can now have a good listen to all the songs on the CD.

Read that Beth Orton is playing at the Metro Theatre in February of next year. Have seen her perform there before a few years ago. Will probably try and make this gig also.

The Amazing Race

I've been watching 'The Amazing Race' on Channel 7 Monday and Tuesday nights at 10.30pm. It's interesting watching how the teams deal with obstacles, setbacks, and challenges and how they think their way through each step to reach their next destination. It's a bit of a look into human nature and how different personalities deal with challenging situations. Also interesting to see that age doesn't seem to be that important a factor as long as they're generally fit. It's more of a mind game and the strategy aspect of the game that gets you ahead. I already know the ending since I went to the website and it had the winner's photos published on the home page. But I read sites like 'Moviespoiler' anyway so it doesn't matter for me.
