Weblog> December 2001 0111220: Thu Harvey's in Wellington at the moment. He took a few photos of the premiere of the 'Lord of the Rings' last night with the pencam and here they are.
Webcams and net radio on a 56k modem is not a smooth experience still. In fact it's pretty frustrating. I was listening to TripleJ on the net and watching the webcam recently and it was very jerky and lots of the audio parts were cutting in and out. Chew had told us he was going to be on. In the end, he didn't speak but he did a comic on the set and his illustrations were shown on the webcam. 0111214: Fri Went to the Greenwood Hotel for lunch today for a Xmas party. It was great. Sitting on the roof of Greenwood Plaza and the table we were sitting at was sheltered by the roof. Got a nice breeze coming through. The food was nice too. Had the pumpkin soup, steak and chips and apple crumble. It was packed out. Borders have just opened up in Skygarden, Sydney. I love that bookshop. Used to go to the one in Macquarie Centre. Saw an origami calender at Borders recently. May buy it. Something new to make up every day. They have heaps of cool magazines too. They even had 'Giant Robot' and 'Online' - titles I haven't come across anywhere else in Sydney so far. You can even select any song from any CD and listen to it. Also saw some cool how to draw comics type books. I'm currently thinking of doing a bear comic strip. Drew my first bear the other night - first time I'd touched a sketch book in over 15 yrs or so. Way too long. Giant Robot has links to heaps of cool zines on their online shop. Read the description that goes with 'Secret Asian Man #6' and would love to check it out but it's sold out. Sounds like it's very hard to get a hold of as well. I came across the site of illustrator/designer Andreas Lindkvist, in Stockholm. His work is awesome. Very colourful digital illustrations. Check out his portfolio. I also like the little things you make by following his instructions such as the Analogue folder 1.0 where he says you can store your printed out digital files. Went to a restaurant in the Portugese Community Club in Petersham a couple of nights ago. It was great. We shared pippies in butter and parsley for entree and then I had a Portugese steak for the main. It tasted a bit like the Chinese sizzling beef dish. It was adorned with heaps of potato crisps except these crisps were made of two layers and the crisps were hot and and a little soft like fries rather than potato chips. They had the menus written in Portugese. I felt like I could've been in Portugal, but I was still in Sydney. It was pretty scrummy! A Bulgarian TV station has launched a news telecast called the 'The Naked Truth'. You get to watch the newsreader progressively take off her clothes throughout the news report. I bought 'High Risk'. 'Speed' has some similar scenes to this movie. I'm really into watching the martial arts movies now. Perhaps I should give it a proper go as well. I checked out a class but it seemed pretty physical. I was told by a friend that it is martial arts after all, and if I wasn't into that, then try some other sports. I also saw 'Double Happiness' on the shelves. This excited me considerably. I remember seeing this film at the Vahalla cinema in Glebe around ten years ago. I loved that film but remembered very little about the details of that film. I have since found out that Mina Shum is the director/writer - a Korean Chinese Canadian. Found the

Check out the chocolate PC card for $14.95 U.S. or the Mouse Pad chocolate card for $17.95 U.S. or if you're looking for a birthday prezzie for the chokky lover, then you can't go past the "Bear-y" Special Birthday Gift which comes with Hershey's collectible birthday bear and chocolate cake for $29.95 U.S. Went to the South Coast for a few days recently. We took heaps of detours of the way down, eventually ending up in Bateman's Bay. Here are some shots taken with the pencam.
