TABLE SERVICE: Concept panels for proposed film Download the Concept panels (pdf, 1405KB) This was put together as part of my application to AFTRS [film school] earlier this year. We had to pitch a film idea. I'm now working on the script which will be based upon the proposal. It started when I found this mad Cafe full of odd single men in a real run down part of the City, reminded me of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks." Actually, I stumbled across it when I was doing a location reccy for 'Strange Love' and was looking for a cafe near the station that we could arrange to meet the cast and crew before shooting the train scenes. I went in and approached the counter where these two old dears were shuffling around cooking in what can only be described as the 1950's. One was fishing scampi with a knarly finger out of a chip pan which looked highly contageous. Like a rat the other appeared from nowhere abruptly infront of me. "What do you want?"she said. I felt like I was on the set of Steptoe and son. "Oh I'm looking for a cafe to meet some mates in tomorrow night." "You don't want to be doing that here, we're old people you want to go to one of those young cafe's," she said. I was about to agree... "What time do you close tomorrow?" "Oh we don't know, we're old and unreliable, aren't we Mother?" She said. I looked from one to the other, they were wanting me to agree and If it wasn't for the tibetan monk smiling at me in the booth to one side I probably would have followed by a line from Withnail and I about buying cafes and raising them to the ground. It was hilarious. I thanked her kindly, turned on my heel and walked out smiling from ear to ear at the monk. 'SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HEAVEN AND WOOLWORTHS' Download the Stills from the documentary (pdf, 631KB) This panel was used as part of the submission I put together to pitch for funding from the Film Finance Corporation. These are stills taken from Peter's film footage which will be used to form part of the documentary. Most of the film footage is previously unseen and there are some unique performances. To tell you the truth I've never been a fan of Otis Redding, mainly due to the fact of not knowing his music, but Peter shot one of his last performances in London before he was killed where he sings Tenderness. Man Alive! It's stunning, the kinda stuff to bring you to tears. There's also this rock 'n roll performance by Ike and Tina Turner where they basically having sex over the mic's, it's all very cool. The footage together with the the stories and Peter as a character it's sure to be a better. INTERVIEW,
