YOUNG BLOOD DESIGNERS MARKET 2006
The Young Blood Designers Market took place at the Powerhouse Museum on 11th and 12th August 2006. It featured over 60 stalls of young designers who are creating some very beautiful, funky and innovative pieces. INTERVIEW WITH RACHEL BENDING - SLINGFINGS
Rachel Bending established the Slingfings bags label 2 years ago.
The bags are made from reclaimed vintage fabrics from the 50s to
the 90s, and are produced using solar power. The bags are produced
locally in Bryon Bay. The bags are now sold in around 30 outlets
in Australia and online. Phil Daly interviewed her on BAYFM 99.9fm,

Jean Snow developed and maintains an online magazine with the tagline:
"Thrills,
chills, and happy pills from the Tokyo front." It covers what
Jean finds interesting about Tokyo and Japan including design events,
culture, sights, music and more. He has a daily audience of around
2000-3000 people. He is currently setting up blogs for the "Tokyo
Style in Gothenburg" event and is also launching an indie music
label with a friend.

WITH LUCAS IHLEIN
Lucas Ihlein is an artist
who's interested in "art projects which draw attention to the
elements of exchange and communication between people." Lucas
was a winner of the 2003 Freedman Foundation Travelling Scholarship
for Emerging Artists. He is currently in Montreal researching "Expanded
Cinema", Fluxus, and social research projects. He
is also
involved with the development of the Network of Uncollectable Artists.

Toni Salter is a horticulturist and trainer interested in certified
organic practices. In this article, Toni tells us how to grow herbs
in a pot. "Nothing
compares to the flavour of fresh herbs. Curry just isn't curry until
it's topped with lashings of fresh coriander, tabbouleh cannot survive
without parsley and pesto simply isn't worth eating out of a jar

WITH LILI CHIN AND EDDIE MORT OF FWAK! ANIMATION
Lili and Eddie are directors
of Fwak Animation. They are currently working on Season 3 of Mucha
Lucha. The Mucha Lucha series screens on the Cartoon Network at
11.30am on Saturdays and on Channel 9 at 6.30am on Sundays in
Australia.
They have also just completed
a 1/2 hour pilot for Cosmic Baby and are also developing new TV
series projects.
They moved from Sydney
to L.A. in September last year to work at Warner Bros. Interview.

Adam is Principal of VIM Design, an award-winning architecture and
design firm based in Sydney. They won a Gold Award for the International
Design Competition: 'Beyond East and West' in 2002, and were part
of the Sydney CENTRAL Design Team which won First place in the Parramatta
Road Urban Renewal Masterplan competition.

is a freelance comic book artist. His latest work is a comic called
'The Borderlander'. It's about a mystical cop who patrols the borders
between our world and countless others to ensure that creatures
